Which kind of material suitable for autoclaving ?
January 07 , 2022
Autoclaving plastics and glass has long been a vital part of bacteria elimination.

Generally speaking, glass and plastics are both suitable for the autoclaving process but there are exceptions. When using weaker plastics, the sterilisation process can reduce the strength of the material. Consider the following:

1.Polycarbonate containers (which are suitable for large-volume media and culture preparation where visibility is key) are less resilient than other plastics and can only withstand 30-50 autoclave cycles.
2. Resins such as HDPE, LDPE, PET, and PETG cannot be autoclaved and should instead be sterilised using gas.
3. Polypropylene and polypropylene copolymer containers are safe to be autoclaved repeatedly.
4. Fluoropolymer products work well and are considered safe for the autoclaving process.

Glass is generally considered safe for autoclaving, but precautions should be taken to ensure safety.

1.Secure glass bottle caps before beginning the autoclaving process. Loose caps could cause glass bottles to explode under the pressure.
2.If possible, aim to use borosilicate glassware. It has silica and boron trioxide as the main glass-forming constituents and is thought to be able to withstand the high pressure of autoclaving better than other types of glass.

3.Only rubber and Teflon can be safely autoclaved so do consider which closure liners you use.

Ok ,If you have clear about which kind of material suitable for autoclaving, and want to buy new autoclave ,here we recommend HY-S-D series vertical high pressure steam sterilizer autoclave .This model of vertical autoclave sterilizer with 35 L,50L,75L,100L for user's choose. It's welcomed by hospital ,dental clinics and labratory etc.
